Networking Green and Innovative Development Consultation Labs for Equal, Resilient, Human-Centred Urban Communities – EQUALCity project The EQUALCity project aims to solve critical urban challenges in the Southern Mediterranean (SM) region, such as rapid urbanization, climate change, and social inequality, by building capacity through advancing sustainable urban development aligned with the European Green Deal goals. Focusing on Egypt, Tunisia, and Jordan, the project equips higher education institutions (HEIs) to develop and modernize urban curricula, integrate advanced technologies, network with stakeholders and promote innovative urban planning solutions.
The main objectives include establishing Consultation Centres and urban digital labs, implementing pilot innovation projects during curricula implementation, developing and modernizing urban planning curricula, and hosting capacitybuilding workshops, a final dissemination forum and a student hackathon. By empowering HEIs and encouraging collaboration, EQUALCity aims to produce skilled urban planners and policymakers capable of creating resilient, inclusive, and sustainable cities.
